PADAM SHARMA Ph. D., Saint Paul, Minnesota

With B. Sc (Agric) from Udaipur University, and B.S., M.S., & Ph. D. from the University of Minnesota, Padam has about 25 years of experience in teaching, research and consulting services in the United States and Nepal.  A long time resident of St. Paul, Padam is an active member of expatriate Nepali community in Minnesota. Padam is the founder President of Empower Nepal Foundation. Padam and his family currently own and operate Everest on Grand – the first Nepali restaurant in Minnesota.


ORIANE CASALE, Saint Paul, Minnesota

Oriane Casale is Assistant Director of Minnesota’s Labor Market Information Office in the MN Department of Employment and Economic Development.  Oriane has a B.A. from the New School for Social Research in New York and an M.A. in public affairs from the University of Minnesota. Oriane fell in love with Nepal when she went on a community education trek organized by CCODER Nepal.  Oriane is the founding member of CCODER-USA and is currently the treasurer of  Empower Nepal Foundation.  Oriane also volunteers with child care advocacy organizations in the Twin Cities.

BHAIRAV KHAKURAL, Ph. D., Saint Paul, Minnesota.

A long time resident of St. Paul, Minnesota and a founding member of Empower Nepal Foundation, Dr. Bhairav Khakural has a B.Sc (Agric) from Panjab Agricultural University, M. S. from Michigan State, and Ph. D. from South Dakota State Univeresity.  Bhairav has over 20 years of academic teaching, research, and community education experience in Nepal and the United States.  Bhairav is currently a SAS programmer analyst with Wells Fargo Investments.

HELENE MURRAY, Ph. D., Saint Paul, Minnesota

After B.S. in Fruit Science from Cal Poly, Dr. Helene Murray served as Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal and provided expert assistance with horticultural extension program of the His Majesty’s Government of Nepal.  After returning from Nepal, Helene earned her M. S. and Ph. D. degrees from Oregon State University.  Currently a resident of St. Paul, Minnesota, Helene is the Executive Director of the MN Institute for Sustainable Agriculutre at the University of Minnesota.

 

MURARI SUVEDI, Ph. D, East Lansing, Michigan

Dr. Murari Suvedi is professor at Michigan State University . His professional background is varied, bringing a unique perspective to agriculture, environment and natural resources programs. He provides leadership in building evaluation capacity in agriculture, environment and natural resources management. He directs MSU study abroad programs in Nepal (currently suspended) and Thailand . He has offered program evaluation short courses/workshops for development professionals in Nepal , India , Ecuador , Guatemala , Canada , United States , and Mexico . He served as Assistant Dean of International Studies and Programs at MSU during 2001-2004. He served as Fulbright Senior Specialist in Nepal in 2002, Cambodia 2005, and Fullbright U. S. Senior Scholar in Nepal in 2006


BAL K. SHARMA , Ph. D., Cary , North Carolina .

Dr. Sharma has a B. S. in Vet. Sci. & Animal Husbandry from India , Dr. Bal Krishna started teaching in the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Sciences in Nepal . and M.S and Ph.D. degrees in Dairy Science and Animal Sciences from South Dakota State Univ. and Univ. of Maryland , respectively. While in Nepal , Dr. Sharma taught at Institute of Agric. & Animal in Chitwan , Nepal, and worked as Animal Sciences researcher in the University of Maryland , and Michigan State University . Currently, he is working for BlueCross and BlueShield of North Carolina as a Statistical Analyst. Dr. Sharma has worked closely with ENF and has served ENF for many years by coordinating ENF-funded projects in Gorkha , Nepal .

Bijaya B. Karki Louisiana

I received my doctorate from the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK. Before joining the Department of Computer Science at Louisiana State University in 2003, I worked as a research scholar at the University of Minnesota (Supercomputing Institute for Digital Simulation and Advanced Computation) and also at Louisiana State University (Biological Computation and Visualization Center). I have received National Science Foudation CAREER grant in 2004. I have won LSU Phi Kappa Phi and College of Basic Science awards in 2008 and JMGM graphics prize in 2009. My research projects involve development/application of a metacomputing/visualization framework to address fundamental materials problems, primarily, for important geophysical implications.
